Ronald Nelson White M.D.

Ron was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on June 5, 1942 to Charles and Eunice White. He graduated from Classical High School in 1960 and later earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts. Attending medical school at the University of Vermont allowed Ron to later serve as a medical doctor and officer in the U.S. Navy.

Ron began his medical career as an anesthesiologist in Michigan, New York, Vermont, Virginia and Texas. Eventually, he opened his own private family practice in Fort Worth in 1987 with his wife Carla Fay White, RN. He faithfully served his patients for twenty-four years, ensuring that they had access to medical care regardless of their situation. Dr. White was known for his attentive and thorough care. His kind bedside manner caused his patients and staff to be devoted and loyal to him throughout the years.

Besides his family, much of Ron’s personal life revolved around his passion for music, animals, sea life, boating, motorcycles, photography and filmography. A talented self-taught musician, he played the piano and accordion and enjoyed performing with his brother, Doug, in a band in high school. His love for music expanded when he married Carla, who pursued music later in life and became an ardent singer and performer. At one time, Ron and Carla had seven different keyboards in Ron’s music room, as well as a grand piano, an accordion, an organ, microphones, speakers and drums.

Ron’s wholehearted love for animals nearly led him to veterinary school; instead he spent six summers working with the SPCA and a lifetime loving and caring for hundreds of pets, ranging from snakes, lizards, turtles, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs to even a monkey! Ron went on to share his interest in animals with his children and grandchildren through saltwater fish tanks, various reptiles, cats and dogs. Sea life was important to him as well; he was an avid collector of coral and amassed a stunning diverse collection over the years. He was inspired to purchase several boats throughout his life and spent a large amount of time on the lake.

Another strong interest of Ron’s was photography and filmography. He could often be found in his dark room or behind a camera at family events, and he was especially dutiful to record all his wife’s musical performances.

Ron was an intelligent, quiet, respectable doctor, but he had another side to him that emerged in several different ways. He was a jokester with a playful sense of humor, committing quite a few pranks in his college years and beyond. Another dichotomy involved his love for riding motorcycles, watching car races, and driving his showy red Corvette. Also surprising was his fondness for crazy wild ties that expressed his personality in a way that was unexpected for our serious doctor.

Ron will most be remembered for his thoughtfulness to family and friends, his kind doctoring skills, and his wholehearted support of his wife in all her endeavors. His whole world revolved around Carla, and he was happiest when he was around her. In Ron’s later years, he found enjoyment in playing with his grandchildren and sharing his love of music with them.

Dr. Ronald White is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carla Fay White; his children Kevin White (Robyn), Kody Flowers (Dana), Kristen Fass (Bob), Quentin Flowers, and Jeffrey White (Laura); his grandchildren Riley, Ryan, Sydney, Kinley and Clara; his brothers Douglas White (Carmen) and Kenneth White; and his first wife, Marilyn J. White.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on the 20th of November at Laurel Land Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
