Robert Gaston Green Jr.

Robert is survived by his wife, Paula Green of Azle, Texas; daughter, Amy Radene Green Ciecka and son-in-law, Michael Ciecka of Corinth, Texas; daughter, Laurin Ranae Green and son-in-law, Chris Hopkins of Fort Worth, Texas; and son, David Nathaniel Green and daughter-in-law, Christina Harris Green of Bedford, Texas; twin granddaughters, Cara Lynne and Emma Leigh Ciecka; and grandson, Forest Emmerich Green; his sister, Lucia Nell Wheat of Longview, Texas; and brother, Michael Douglas Green of Jefferson, Texas.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gaston Green, Sr. and mother, Laura Esther Johnson and sister, Sharon Yvonne Caro.

In 1967, Robert graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a teenager, Robert loved 1955 Chevys, horses, pickup trucks and sports. A true western man, Robert loved breaking and training horses. Watching rodeo was a special joy for his whole lifetime. On August 2, 1968, Robert married Paula Suzanne Henderson. She would prove to be the beautiful wife and helpmeet described in the Bible. Robert attended Emmaus Road Bible College in 1991 and was ordained as pastor. He joined the pastor’s fellowship at Shady Grove Church in Irving, Texas. Along with pastoring, Robert owned a tile business in which he invested many hours and created beautiful craftsmanship.

One of Robert’s outstanding achievements was his work for Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He was commissioned to help relocate authentic Texas ranch homes and barns to the National Ranching Heritage Center. Each structure, every stone and shingle, including windmills and even a dugout, was painstakingly disassembled, photographed, numbered and moved to the university campus, where it was reassembled and rebuilt exactly as it stood in pioneer days. This lasting tribute brings Texas history to life and preserves those stories from times when longhorns roamed wild on the plains.

As a pastor, Robert had the Lord’s heart toward people. Like his master, Jesus Christ, Robert was deeply touched by the needs of people around him. He was devoted to helping people find the Lord and walk free from all types of bondage. With his wife Paula, Robert pastored, fed, comforted and often provided a home for those in need. He was a faithful shepherd, loyal friend, devoted husband and a wonderful son, brother, father and grandfather. Robert will be remembered for his beautiful voice lifted in praise, his gentle compassion, his unselfish generosity and his joyous sense of humor.
