Richard was born May 3, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas to John Irving and Agnes Jackson Ellis. He graduated from Tech High School in Fort Worth, and served in the US Army from 1951 to 1956 during the Korean war. He worked for General Dynamic for 10 years and retired from Bell Hellicopter after 30 years.
He married Betty Jane Patterson Salvo in 1966, and she preceded him in death on September 27, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes Ellis, brothers Walter Taylor Ellis and John Henry Ellis, and sisters Mary Ellis Leverson and Virginia Ellis Witmer.
Richard is survived by his brother Robert Ellis and wife Annie of Joshua, his sister Wanda McMoran of Burleson, step-daughter Ann Salvo Enloe, step-son Joe Salvo, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A graveside service for Richard will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, Texas 76134.
