COLLEYVILLE -- Marshall Gene Johnson passed into Eternal Life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the young age of 73.
A celebration of life and faith will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5th, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church 303 Cullum Drive Euless, Texas with Father Vasile Tudora. Visitation was from 6:30-7:30 Friday evening, January 4, 2013 with the Trisagion starting at 7:30 Friday, at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church building fund in his honor.
Marshall Gene the first child born to Marshall F. and Loien Johnson in Enid, OK on March 24th, 1939. Other siblings include Darrel and Paul Johnson and step-sisters, Vicki Leis and Judy Kiechlin.
Marshall graduated from Valley Center High School in Valley Center, Kansas in 1957. He also attended Wichita State University before joining the U.S. Army and serving in Germany in 1960 to 1963.
Marshall lived in Wichita, Kansas as an insurance salesman and Manager of Red Carpet carwashes. After he met and married his wife Velva and daughter Shawnya moved to Chandler, Az in 1973 where he and partner Bob Ivory had a very successful business with Broadway and Los Arcos full and self-service car washes. He later moved to Bridgeport and finally settled in Colleyville, Texas taking over the family business, Johnson Machine Works from 1981 and retired in 2012.
Mahall and Velva joined St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox church in April 1998 and renewed their vows in July 1998. They have been active members in service for 15 years and have many wonderful friends.
Marshall's favorite past-time other than being of maximum service to his wife and mother-in-law which he took into his home for over 10 years was his Koi fish and pond. He loved to feed his fish and grow a beautiful backyard Japenese type garden for his family to enjoy.
Marshall never met a stranger and always had a kind word. He defended his family and also taught them how to walk the straight and narrow path. He was a good father, wonderful and kind husband, good Christian, and great friend to many.
Survivors: Marshall is survived by his wife, Dr. Velva Lee Johnson; son, Bradley and wife Donna Johnson and three grand children, Christopher and Jonathan Johnson and Samantha McDowell; four great grandchildren Emma, Savannah, Aiden and Abigal. Also, his daughter, Shawnya and husband Terry Dickson and their three children, Jaclyn, Teddy, and Riley. All of the Dallas-Ft Worth area and brothers, Darrell Johnson of Muretta,CA and Paul Johnson of Arlington, TX; Vicki Leis of Wichita, KS and Judy Kiechlin of Colorado Spring, Co.
