Margaret Virginia Gilbert

Virginia Gilbert went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2023. Virginia was born June 1, 1930, in Arlington, Texas to John F. and Margaret Dickerson. She was the first of two children. The second being her brother, John Delmas Dickerson.

Virginia married the love of her life, Odis Wayne Gilbert, Sr. on January 10, 1948. The first time she laid eyes on him she said, “I’m going to marry that boy.” They had a beautiful marriage for 53 years. They had three children, Ginger Gayle Robertson, Odis Wayne Gilbert, Jr., and Sharyn Gay Gilbert, seven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Virginia loved music and singing. She sang with the western swing band, Four Wheels and a Spare with her husband Odis through the 1970s and 1980s.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the heart of the family and was someone you could always count on. She will be deeply missed by all.

Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, John Delmas Dickerson, her husband Odis Wayne Gilbert, her daughter Ginger Gayle Robertson, son in law James Ira Schmidt, and two grandsons James Schmidt, Jr., and Travis Paul Wyatt.

A visitation for Virginia will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel and Cemetery, 7301 East Lancaster, Fort Worth, TX 76112, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM..
