Linda Walker Howard

Linda Diane Walker Howard, 76, passed away on July 8, 2021 in Austin, Texas after a recent hospitalization. Linda was born and raised in Ft. Worth and was a graduate of Trimble Tech High School. After ensuring her children had the opportunity to complete their education, Linda returned to school and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington. While she held a variety of jobs throughout her life, Linda proudly volunteered, and later worked part-time, with the Citizens on Patrol program with the Ft. Worth Police Department. Linda and her husband Billy moved to Georgetown in 2013 where she spent her final years.

Linda was an intellectual who loved to read and discover becoming quite the science and fiction aficionado in the process. She often dreamed of travels to far away locales and was able to visit some of these locations during her life. In addition to being a talented cook, Linda loved animals and music, was an accomplished gardener and, many may not have known this, also held an orange belt in karate. Furthermore, she was exceptionally skilled at knitting and would often knit for charitable causes.

Linda was a devoted wife and mother who took pride in her children and valued time with her family, especially during the holidays. She believed her children could do anything and that her daughters were not constrained by their gender as she had seen and encountered during her lifetime. Spending time with friends and neighbors, especially the neighborhood dining out club, delighted her before illness unfortunately curtailed her activities in her last years. During those last years, as she managed her own health issues, she also provided care and support for her husband who was experiencing health issues as well.

Linda is survived by her three children; daughter Carolyn Howard (husband Robert Lawrence), son Gary Howard (wife Marty Howard), daughter Lisa Howard (husband Joe Reed), her grandson Travis Howard, and her siblings; Carl Walker and Carla Wright. She also leaves behind her grandkitty Gracie and her granddogs Roxie and Ralph. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Howard, who recently passed away, and her sister Paula Walker Logan.

Funeral service will be held at Laurel Land Cemetery and Funeral Home in Ft. Worth, TX on July 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. There will be no visitation or graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or to a Veterans program as she was a devoted supporter of veteran foundations and services.
