Lynn was born on December 27, 1939, in Nashville Tennessee, to parents Mary Alice Hendrick Lewis and Leon L. Lewis Sr. Even though he was born in Tennessee, he always considered himself a Texan since his parents were Texas born and raised. He did make his way back to Texas at age 2 years. He was a long-time resident of Fort Worth, with a 27-year interval living in Weatherford, Texas.
He spent his formative years growing up on the south side of Fort Worth living close to family, including his grandparents on his mother’s side, Aunt and Uncle and lots of cousins.
Lynn married his elementary school sweetheart, Mary Ann Hart Lewis (widely known as Sweethart (Lynn’s spelling) in 1960. He spent over 60 years working for the Specialty Service Company (a company his father and uncle founded in 1944). He started his career there sweeping floors and ended it as president of the company in 2005. After retirement, he worked two rewarding part time positions at HoneyBaked Ham on holidays and the White Settlement Senior Service Center.
Lynn was pre-deceased in death by his parents, his brother Donnie, his Aunt Minnie (who stepped in when Lynn lost his mother at age 18) & Uncle Russel Reed and multiple other family members and many others who were like family to him.
Survivors include Wife, Mary Ann (Sweethart) Hart Lewis. Sons: Trey Lewis & wife Tina of Weatherford and John Reed Lewis of Glenn Heights. Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Ashley, Johnathan Reed, Laura and Tovah. Great Grandchildren: Stephanie, Jesse Deacon, Katie and Bowen. He is also survived by 9 beloved nieces and lots of other family and friends.
Lynn had his struggles throughout his life; however, he always remained a true southern gentleman.
A service will be held in the chapel on September 1, 2022, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, Texas in the main chapel. At a later date, Lynn’s cremains will be buried in the chapel garden at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
