Kay Frances Young

She was born in Rural Valley, PA on 1/13/1944, was raised on her family farm and graduated from Elderton High School in 1961.

Kay was married to Danny E. Young on 7/27/1974 in Rural Valley, PA and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. She formerly worked at Delco Products in Rochester, NY, was a nurse in PA and then an office manager for a family business in Sarasota, FL before retiring.

Kay had a passion for camping and traveling with Danny to visit their children, grandchildren, family, and friends in several cities throughout the United States. She was often described as fun loving, caring, giving, sweet, a fantastic mom and grandma, beautiful, funny and a great lady.

Preceded in death by parents Roy and Katherine Forester and son, William “Bill” Ditmore. Kay was survived by her devoted and loving husband, Danny, devoted daughters Debbie Ditmore Weilert and Brenda (Jeff) Hoffman, stepchildren whom she considered her own, Danny Jr. (Gayla), Samuel Young and Rebecca (Dave) Beck. 11 very special grandchildren: Kristin, Jamie, Jessie, Nick, Tanner, Danny III, Kylie, Kami, Elizabeth, Lexi & Stephanie, 9 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way, loving siblings Roy (Sandra) Forester, Tom (Vicki) Forester, Carol (Larry) McConnell, Bill (Linda) Forester, Rich (Marie) Forester and Patty DeConinck, many nieces and nephews and friends, and her beloved pets Miley and Jackal.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held by family at a future date back home in PA.
