John Perry Newport

John Perry Newport, age 83, born September 9, 1935 in Roseburg Oregon and passed away December 6, 2018 in North Richland Hills Texas. He was born to Lloyd and Ruth Newport. John attended Lakin High School in Lakin Kansas. He attended one year at Kansas State University where he played football until he suffered a knee injury. He married Betty Pevehouse on August 23, 1969. He retired as a building maintenance engineer.

John is survived by his loving wife, Betty Newport; children, Kathy Speers and husband Donnie Speers of Hurst Texas; sister-in-law, Verda Newport of Lakin Kansas; grandchildren, Holly Rohling and husband Ryan Rohling of Hutchinson Kansas, Jase Smith and wife Rachel Smith of North Richland Hills Texas, Chans Smith of North Richland Hills Texas, Erica Brown and husband Rusty Brown of Larned Kansas, Andi Zortman and husband Galen of Bazine Kansas; great grandchildren, Felicity Cedillo, Mattieu Cedillo, Brendan Smith, Laykin Smith, Mario Cedillo, Lylee Brown, Aiden Giles, Shay Brown, Kalvin Brown, Seth Rohling, Grigston Zortman and Lenora Zortman. Preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Ruth Newport of Lakin Kansas; brother, Robert Newport of Lakin Kansas and son, Kent Newport of Great Bend Kansas.

Family will received friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Home, 6001 Rufe Snow Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76148. Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service will be held at 3 pm, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery, 7301 East Lancaster Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76112.
