Janice Kay Brownlee, age 70 of Winnsboro, Tx passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20th, 2024. She was born to her loving parents, Nita and George Brownwell on October 10th, 1954 in Midland, Tx. Janice graduated from Southwest High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Texas Tech University. She was married to Mike Brownlee on July 11th, 1993 in Granbury, Tx. Janice worked hard and had a career in elementary education for Fort Worth ISD as an art teacher.
Janice was extremely caring for animals and people. Her compassion resulted in rescuing any animal in need including dogs, cats, and even racoons. She loved the outdoors among her other hobbies which included gardening. photography, traveling, cooking, reading, and of course art. She shared her love of food and travel with her husband, Mike. She was loved by all her students. She was a very talented art teacher with a specialty in paper mâché animal displays. She continued to substitute after her retirement.
She had a very nurturing and kind soul. Janice absolutely adored children. Mike and Janice adopted Gina, their only daughter, through Gladney in 2004. They always dreamed of having a child and Gina became the light of their lives the moment they held her in their arms. Gina had an adventure-filled childhood and captured the vibrant personality of both her parents. Janice, Mike, and Gina, had a wonderful loving relationship that is irreplaceable.
Janice is preceded in death by Mike Brownlee; her parents Nita and George Brownwell. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Brownlee; and her two sisters, Sheri Hageman and Cynthia Sharp.
For all those who she loved and touched deeply we ask to please join us for a funeral service at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 2pm followed by burial at Laurel Land Memorial Park. A reception will be held at Elaine and Larry's home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Gladney Center for Adoption, and / or Hospice of East Texas.
