Pat Ratliff, a 50+ year resident of Crowley, Texas passed away at home after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family on thursday, February 16, 2023.
Pat was born in Kennington, Berks near Oxford, U.K. to Harry Frank Pope and Marjorie Maude Hawkins Fraser and spent her childhood and youth in the greater Oxford area. Pat met her husband Solomon, J. Ratliff, who was serving with the U.S. Air Force at a nearby R.A.F base. They were married on December 29, 1956, In Oxford. Pat and Sol eventually settled down in Crowley, where Sol retired from Air Force and became a police officer at Tarrant County College. During their 30+ year marriage, they had a daughter and three sons: Brenda (Chris Mahan), Roger Ratliff, John Ratliff (Debbie) and Jeff Ratliff (Madora).
Pat was an avid sports and professional wrestling fan, and could talk all day long about players, strategy and statistics. She loved the Cowboys and the Stars. Pat loved wrestling and thought it was terrible that the referee would turn his back when the good guy was being beaten up by the heel, and on one occasion called the North Side Coliseum to implore about the state of the match, to which the person answering the phone replied, "Lady, it's not a live match and i'm just the janitor." We will miss her laugh, her love of dirty jokes and her stories of life growing up in England.
Pat is predeceased by her husband, Solomon J. Ratliff at just 53; her brother, Geoffrey Pope; Her sisters Mary, Marjorie and Molly. Pat is survived by her four children, twelve grandchildren and their spouses, and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving Pat are her brothers Anthony and Terrence, and sisters Margaret and Wendy, and their families in the UK.
