James Edward Thomson, age 83, delivered his soul to God on Monday, August 1, 2022. A memorial for James will be held at 2:00 PM on 8/24/2022 at Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano. James was born on August 14, 1938 to Addie (Franks) Thomson and Eli Newland Thomson in Midland, Texas. He was a sweet, wise, quiet soul who embraced life and brought a smile to those around him.
James graduated from Midland Senior High School in 1957, served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1962, received a B.A. from Hardin-Simmons University, and an M.A. in Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. James had learned mechanics from his father and relied on those skills to make ends meet, teaching Auto Mechanics at Trimble Tech High School along with History and ESL at Diamond Hill High School (receiving awards for his ESL curriculum).
James loved reading, spending time outdoors among nature, watching sports, listening to music, and spending time with his family above all.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda Jane (Rasco) Thomson, grandson Noah Thomson, brothers Donald and Ernest, and by his sisters Grace, Betty Gene, and Geneva. James is survived by his brother Kenneth and sister Doris, his children Debra, Linda, Tolli, and James Brian, and by his 5 grand-children Austin, Presley, Bonnie, Eli, and Mia.
An inurnment service for James will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
