James "Jim" Allen Moore Sr.

A Funeral Service for James will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.

Jim was born in Provincetown, Massachusetts on May 9, 1934 to parents Marjorie Moore and Pete Damon. From 1953 to 1957, Jim served on active duty with the U.S. Navy. Jim then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1971, he was awarded his MBA in Marketing and Finance from Texas Christian University.

Shortly after graduating, Jim founded Moore Diversified Services, Inc. and became a national leader in conducting market research and broad-based consulting in the Senior housing and health care industries. He authored hundreds of articles and industry specific papers and has written six books for the Senior living industry. Locally, Jim was a past Chairman of the Board for Casa Manana. He was also active with the National Association of Home Builders and was a featured writer for the Fort Worth Star Telegram with his weekly column entitled “Trends.”

During his career, Jim was a past president of a major Senior living industry trade association and has been active in many other major industry trade associations. He has received many awards and accolades from the industry including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. In 2018, he was among the industry’s first inductees to the Senior Living Hall of Fame, presented by the American Seniors Housing Associations (ASHA). He was also Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of a major public Senior living company. Jim served as an independent director and advisory board member of many other Senior living organizations. He most certainly will be remembered for his immense contributions to the Senior living industry along with his work ethic, quick wit, and dry sense of humor.

In 2003, Jim was elected to his high school hall of fame at New Bedford Voc-Tech High School. He also received recognition from Texas Christian University for his contributions to the Development and Management of Aerospace Business. Jim and Gerry, his wife of 34 years, have shared their love by traveling around the world and spending summers in Cape Cod, where Jim was born. Jim was a lifelong Red Sox fan and could always be counted on to have the baseball game on in their theater room. He also enjoyed hosting his friends and family for various games and movies in their home. Jim loved vintage cars and cherished his red 1957 T-Bird.

Jim is survived by his wife Gerry Moore, daughter Lynne Moore, son James Allen Moore, Jr. (Jimmy), and his wife Mary, and son Jeffery Moore. He is also survived by his step-son Roy Barker and Terry, step-daughter Kimberly Jimenez, grandchildren Cara Mordecai and her husband Benjamin Mordecai, Brent Barker and his wife Jennifer Barker, Tristen Jimenez, and Casey Jimenez, and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Louise, brother Richard Moore, and sister Patsy Devore.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or any charity of your choice. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Westmore Senior Living and St. Gabriel’s Hospice, both of which provided excellent and loving care.
