Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James was born June 4, 1919, to Sarah and J.R. Collier. He proudly served our country in the European theater during World War II for the U.S. Army in the 36th Infantry Division and was a member of the 155th Field Artillery Battalion in the National Guard. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of employment. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and J.R. Collier, and his son, Glen Collier.
Survivors: His wife, Vesta Collier; grandchildren, David Collier, Richard Collier, Nancy Morey, Laura Green and husband, Matt, Dee Shaw, Linda Hearne and Ashley Hearne; and great-grandchildren, James Jr., Katy, Brennan, Caelan and Prater.
