Gerardo was born in Monclova, Coahuilla, Mexico, to Emilio and Edith Garcia. He attended Crowley High school and graduated in the class of 1986. He went on to study at TCU and graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in I.T. He worked as a Software Developer for J.P. Morgan Chase.
At only 55 years young, Gerardo could turn any frown "upside down" and into "my-cheeks-hurt" kind of laughter. Even as a child, he understood that the world was demanding and made the best of every day with plenty of jokes and pranks with his siblings and cousins.
He also had a (semi) serious side. He enjoyed carpentry and DIY projects; he sculpted, made pottery, and painted award-winning art. With his Mom often by his side, he traveled the world, snapped many pictures, and wined and dined to his heart’s content. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. He loved to watch football and to play fantasy football.
His heart was big enough to care for family, friends, and strangers. He had an extra special place saved for his pugs, Rocky and Apollo. His heart, spirit, and soul will live on in a "TCU purple world" and repeatedly chant "Rif Ram Bah Zoo Lickety Lickety Zoo Zoo."
Gerardo was a member of All Saints Catholic Church of Dallas.
He is preceded in death by his father Emilio Garcia and his beloved dog Apollo. He is survived by his mother Edith Garcia, brother Cesar Garcia and wife Deborah, sister Edith Chapa, nieces Isabel and Emily Chapa, and his faithful dog Rocky.
