Known to all as Don, he was born in Granbury, Texas on October 31, 1940 to James and Hazel Marrs. Don graduated from Granbury High School. He married the love of his life Nancy Marie on May 20, 1983.
Don worked for Ben Hogan as an assembler of golf clubs for many years and then had his own fence business called D & N. Everyone knew that he was passionate about fishing, hunting, dancing with his wife, Nancy, but the most important thing to him was his family.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel Marrs; his children Rusty Marrs, Jeffery Don Marrs, and William (Billy) Lassiter; his brother, Vaughn Marrs; and his sister, Paula Gilliand. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Marrs; his daughters, Terri Donnice Marrs and Debra Denise Phillips (Ray); his grandchildren, Darel Ray Phillips, Jr., Diana Marie Phillips, Blake Richards, Jeffery Don Winans, Amanda Lassiter, Christopher Lassiter, and Sara Day; his great-grandchildren, Ryker Don Winans, Jasmine Phillips, Lenja Phillips, Helen Dearman, Corbin Dearman, Haley Dearman, and Chance Dearman.; his brother, Nicky Marrs. Don also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas, with a funeral service to follow. The committal service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 3:15 p.m. at Herring Cemetery in Granbury, Texas.
