Our Dearest Joyce Beaton, accompanied by God’s peace and love, passed at home in Fort Worth in the early hours of September 2, 2023, the 64th anniversary of her marriage to Paul Ellis Beaton, who died on September 3, 1981. Saint Joyce, as she was affectionately referred to by many, leaves a legacy of love, faith, humility and compassion.
Estel Joyce Kinsey, the oldest of three children, was born in Boyd, Texas to James Kinsey and Cleo Joyce (Boren) Kinsey on May 3, 1942. She grew up in Lake Worth, Texas, where she attended Lake Worth High School and had a keen interest in journalism and developed a love of notetaking.
She met her husband Paul while selling tickets and popcorn at downtown Fort Worth’s Majestic Theatre, where he was performing as a musician. Joyce and Paul went on to have six children and spread their wings across Texas, living in Ft. Worth, Houston, Corpus Christi and then back to Fort Worth.
Joyce was known for her many passions, including Jeopardy, Elvis and Jesus, as well as her encyclopedic knowledge on topics ranging from pop-culture, family happenings, history and politics. She never met a stranger, was always welcoming and ready to hold a conversation. She was open-minded and never judged. Joyce was a homemaker, caregiver, the ultimate cleaning lady, an office manager, but first and foremost a Mother, Grandmother, GiGi, sister, Aunt, cousin and friend.
She was first diagnosed in 1995 with breast cancer that later returned as Stage 4 cancer in her bones in 2012. Joyce faced the next decade with a stoic grace, will to live and tenacity that is unmatched. During these years of treatment, she remained strong, optimistic, peaceful, hopeful, ever-loving, and good-humored as was her manner throughout her 81 years.
A special thanks to Dr. Ruxer, Dr. Colquitt, Dr. Peak and all the medical team at Texas Oncology.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and son-in-law, Tom Ennis. She is survived by her two brothers Don (Minnie) Kinsey and Tommy Kinsey, her six Children Paula (John) Forbus, Anthony Beaton, Pamela Ennis, Kathleen (Eduardo) Soto, Paul Beaton and Angela (Steve) Kilcrease, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, their families, other beloved family members and dear friends.
Joyce wanted everyone to know that she wishes you Peace, Loves you very much, and you will be in her Prayers forever.
Joyce’s final resting place will be at Garvin Cemetery with many of her ancestors. The family will join for a small celebration of her life in the near future.
