After graduating high school, she continued to expand her educational career at Albany State College, where she received a BS in Physical Education.
Edma met and married her high school sweetheart, Archie L. Wright. They had three sons, Aaron, Archie Jr., and Michael Wright Sr.
Edna loved her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She demonstrated her commitment with 60 years of continual service in several leadership roles. Edna was initiated in 1963 while attending college and serving in several leadership roles.
Edna was a devoted educator, where her teaching days began at Pineville High School in Valdosta, Georgia. She spent the majority of her career at Fort Worth ISD, at Morningside Middle School and Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School, where she retired. Her infamous stubborn streak was an inspiration to her students, refusing to give up on them no matter the struggle and continuing those relationships far beyond the school year.
Edna had a strong faith in God. She was a devoted member of Great Commission Baptist Church for several decades. She was a member of the choir and Pastors Armor Bearer Committee.
The family's home served as a community tutoring and sports complex, as she extended her teaching beyond the classroom, offering tutoring to any student. Whether it was learning to read or write their name, Edna "Mrs. Wright", was there for it! Edna and Archie had a long rivalry as she was a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan, and he was always rooting for Alabama. They loved watching college football every Saturday....Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!!
Edna was the type of woman that would greet her friends and family with love and care. She would always prepare either flapjacks in the morning, or collard greens at night. There wasn't a moment that went by where she didn't make sure you were fed. She would also check in on you, asking for all of the details of life. It made her smile to hear about everyone's life journey. She lived through us all. She loved to tell stories of her family back in Columbus, Georgia. Yeah!! Yeah!! Yeah!! In her spare time, Edna loved watching Crime TV and coloring. She also loved to partake in a quick trip to the mall for a new handbag, fresh pair of bangles, or earrings. Edna had style!
