Deborah Kay Johnson-Thomas was born on April 18, 1964 to the parentage of Alonzo Criss Jr and LaVerne Johnson.
Deborah was baptized into the Christian faith at an early age. She joined New Mt Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R. A. Toliver.
Deborah attended Polytechnic High School and graduated in 1982. Deborah attended the HBCU Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas.
Deborah had a green thumb for growing plants. She loved music and family gatherings.
Deborah worked for Tyson Foods. She became a home health care aide for Agape Home Care and Day Break. She continued being a loving first responder and care giver.
Deborah was married to Freddie Brooks Jr. In 1987. Deborah later reunited with her childhood friend, Randy Joe Thomas and they were married on April 19, 2016.
Those proceeding her in death were her first husband Freddie Brooks Jr., her parents father Alonzo Criss Jr., mother LaVerne Johnson. Her two sisters Jewel Soulaire, Charles Etta Scott, and one brother Roland Gardner, two nephews Myron Demond Golightly, Tommy Curtis Gentry Jr. and one great nephew Jordan Franklin.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Randy Thomas, Step Daughter Labrekka Johnson, five sisters Evelyn Lee, Carolyn Golightly (Larry), Shirley Johnson, Jacquelyn Smith and Tonya Criss. Four brothers Alonzo Criss III, Rodney Criss, Keith Criss, Avery Criss. Two aunts Katie Mae Howard and Dora Criss and a host of family, friends and the south side community.
