It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Glenn Taylor, age 63, on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, at Dynamic Touch Nursing Home. David was born May 11th, 1961, in Charleston, South Carolina to Jodie V and Virginia Taylor. His father was a Naval officer and retired after 30 years of service. Growing up in a family of five kids was never boring, especially since the family moved every couple of years to a new duty station.
He graduated from LD Bell High School in 1979 and went to Tarrant County Community College and graduated with double degrees in Banking and Business Administration with honors. For ten years after, he worked in the banking industry in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 1990, David applied for a job at Fed Ex. In his own words, he wrote “The hiring manager was interviewing me and said the job would be long hard hours, lots of yelling and working at a fast pace.” Dave responded to the manager, stating “I told him my dad was in the Navy, and I already went through a divorce, so what else can the devil do since I survived all that”. The manager said, “You are hired!” Well, obviously it was meant to be as David focused on his career as a Fed Ex delivery driver for the next twenty-seven years.
David had a penchant for photography, having acquired his first camera at age 11, a Nikon X35. He dabbled in photography and picked up a few awards through the years. Those of you who knew David, will always remember his love for dancing. He definitely had his own style and loved it when people would be entertained by his “performances”. David was also an avid four-wheeler enthusiast and enjoyed years of camaraderie and fun as a member of the DFW Four-Wheeler club, earning the monocle of Crazy Dave.
Twice divorced, David finally found his soul mate, Cynthia Brown. She remained by his side throughout his battle with dementia after several strokes.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Jodie and Virginia Taylor, sister Patricia Lynn Taylor, and brother, Kenneth Alan Taylor.
He is survived by his older sister, Trudy Bostick and spouse, Ron; sister Diana Taylor Jones, sister Sandra Gail Taylor Evans, sister-in-law Beverly Ann Taylor, four nephews, and two nieces, as well as several grand nephews and nieces.
He liked to journal from time to time and recently wrote the following. Things that make me smile.
1. A smile returning mine
2. Nature
3. I enjoy being a joker
4. The dinner bell when it was time to come home
Celebrate his life with the knowledge that he heard that dinner bell in Heaven and went home to be with the Lord and those who have passed before.
