Life Reflections
Columbus Lee Isabel was born June 15, 1947 in Tyler, Texas to the parents of Lillie Mae Young and Manzel Isabel. He was a 1964 graduate of Emmitt J Scott High School in Tyler, Texas. After serving in the United States Army, he worked as an Air Traffic Controller until 1984 and went on to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Texas in Arlington. He served 39 years with the US Government, retiring from the Dept. of Labor in 2009. He was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas under the leadership of Pastor James P. Thompson, Jr. where he served as an usher for many years. Anyone who knew Columbus, knew that he had a great sense of humor with a lot of sarcasm and wittiness. He was also a firm supporter of family and believed in preserving its history.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Young, his father, Manzel Isabel, stepmother, Helen Isabel and his two sisters Loritha “Michelle” Young Lynch and Bynarozelle Oliver.
He leaves to mourn his memory; his brother Bruce Isabel (Treysi), his sisters Pearletha Ogun, Stasie Broughton (Cleveland), Ola Johnson, Phyllis Brown, and his daughter Cassondra Andrews, and grandson, Alexander Andrews; host of nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.gwspencerdirs.net for the ISABEL family.
