Claris Adams Johnson Jr.

Claris A. Jr. was born to Rev. Claris and Pattie Johnson near Keiser, Arkansas, October 26, 1930. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR in 1952. He then moved to Ft. Worth, TX and enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Seminary and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1956 and a Doctor of Theology degree in 1964. While in Texas he was pastor in Lake Dallas, Argyle, McGregor, Waco, and Ft. Worth. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri to be pastor of First Baptist Church of St. John's, Missouri. From Missouri he moved back to his home state to pastor the First Baptist Church of Paragould. He and Patsy had three sons. His ministry as a pastor, bible teacher, and denominational worker (from age 16-77) spanned sixty-one years. Upon retirement as a full time pastor he and Patsy moved to Ft. Worth, TX. Then, for the next fifteen years he served as interim pastor of nine churches in North Texas. He died on April 16, 2025 at age 94.

He is survived by Patsy, his wife of 69 years, his son Johnny of Arlington, TX, his son Larry of Folsom, CA, his son Randy of Ft. Worth, TX, his brother Kenneth of Olive Branch, MS, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 1pm followed by a graveside service at 2pm at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
