Bonnie was born in 1942 in Farris, Oklahoma to Edna and Early Hopson and grew up surrounded by her four siblings - Dickie, Almeta, Bertie and Elaine. They were raised on a rural homestead that Bonnie loved sharing stores about growing up. Her children and grandchildren were able to spend weekends and holidays at “the farm”, creating lasting memories.
Bonnie was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others, and she incorporated that into her motherhood.
Bonnie was set up on a blind date with James. She soon married James “Jim” in July 1961 and he remained by her side until the end. His heart will ache until they are together again. May he find peace in his gospel music and their decades of love together. Bonnie and Jim were never separated and went everywhere together. They loved driving and exploring our great nation. Affectionately known as “Bonnie and Clyde” to her daughter and granddaughter for sharing everything except when they decided to go on adventures without notice … prompting many threats of “silver alerts”.
As a mother she was generous, loving and kind and her love soared to new heights when her grandchildren Jordan, Joseph, Jackson and Reese and great-grandson Jameson came along.
She never missed a school event including hundreds of baseball, soccer, and softball games; wrestling matches and Taekwondo belt tests. Dedicating many miles and hours in carpool and traveling to watch the grandkids. She treasured daily phone calls from her grandchildren who loved her deeply.
In her free time, Bonnie enjoyed traveling with Jim to bluegrass jams, camping, organizing family reunions and spending time with family, friends and countless neighbors. Favorite pastimes included shopping at thrift stores, going to the casino and to her daughters dismay: ironing. Which later worked to her advantage ironing 10,000s of napkins for POSH. Bonnie also believed it was very important to stay active and enjoyed her daily (3 mile) walks around the neighborhood. Jim notes a time consuming hobby of pecan-picking only to generously give away to family, friends and neighbors.
Bonnie is survived by loving husband: Jim; daughter: Jami Osborn Goetze and husband Joe; son: John Osborn and wife Kelly; granddaughter: Jordan Ugalde and husband Jesus; grandsons: Joseph Goetze, Jackson Goetze and Reese Osborn; great-grandson: Jameson Ugalde ; siblings: Dickie Hopson of Atoka, OK and wife Judy, Bernie Sowders of Waco and husband Darwin, Almeta Rieken of Irving, Elaine Police and husband Ron, along with many nieces and nephews who will always remember Aunt Bonnie.
She is also survived by her beloved dog Lola.
Bonnie’s kind and gentle spirit will be greatly missed. She will remain in our hearts and dreams forever.
