In Loving Memory
Billy Ray Layne was born in Tyler, Texas, to Albert “Bake” and Lillie “Dooley” Layne on April 26, 193.
Bake and Dooley moved to Fort Worth, Texas with their seven children, Albert Junior, Billy, James, Jimmy, Lorene, Lola May and Ruby Jewel, where they attended Benson Chapel AME Church.
After graduating from I. M. Terrell High School, Billy was employed by Swift Armor Meat Packing Plant, and retired from Portland Cement Plant, and Keebler Company. He also umpired competitions for the City of Fort Worth Adult Recreational League, as well as Coached and played softball in Lincoln Park and Gateway Park.
On February 27, 2023 Billy peacefully went home to be with the Lord. Those remaining to treasure his memory are his siblings; Albert Junior and Ruby Jewell; his children Mike, Rickett, Truitt, Nichole, Jerald, Clevette, Kinana, Robin, Latoya, DeAndre; several generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
