Beulah Sappington Thomas was born February 27, 1935 and passed away on Tuesday, January 24th after a long battle with heart disease. She was born in Bastrop Texas to Hazel and Joseph Sappington. She was one of eight children, five girls and three boys. At the early age of twelve, she was orphaned, when her father and mother both died of cancer six months apart. She and her three remaining sisters were sent to Buckner Orphan Home, where she remained until her senior year in high school. She then attended Grand Prairie High School where she met and fell in love with Billy Ray Thomas. They were married 54 years. She worked at LTV as secretary to the Comptroller until they were transferred to New Jersey. She was a very social and active member of various organizations during her life including, Bluebonnet Club, Garden Club, Women’s Club, Eastern Star, DAR, and the Baptist Church in several locations She is survived by her three sisters Berneece Hardin, Beatrice Whiteside and Barbara Ryer, three children Chris, Max, and Leanne Thomas, and daughters in law Melody and Mary Thomas, four grandchildren Aaron, Brandon, Tyler, and Whitney Thomas, four great grandchildren Amber, Riley, Ryan and Brevyn Thomas, and Goddaughter Lori Beth Tremari Joseph.
