William "Bill" Griggs

William “Bill” Griggs, 72, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Parkview Randallia in Fort Wayne. He was born in Paulding, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Lois Griggs. He graduated from New Haven High School and then received his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in 1968. He married Estelle Haring on July 4, 1970 and she survives. He worked for Dreibelbiss Title Company and Three Rivers Title Company until his retirement in 2012. He then worked for Titan Title Company. Bill was an avid baseball fan, he was the former president of Society for American Baseball Research and a member of Northeast Indiana Baseball Association. He played an instrumental role in organizing the 1871 Kekionga Baseball Memorial in Camp Allen Park. He also enjoyed writing, golfing, and playing piano. He was known for his quick witt and sense of humor. Surviving are his children, Gloria (Mike) Squire, Ron Griggs, and Crystel (Jeff) Miller; five grandchildren; siblings, Steve, Richard, and Nathan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 2:00 pm Saturday, March 23, 2019 at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home Lakeside Park with an hour of calling prior to the service. Calling from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, March 22, 2019 at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home Lakeside Park. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
