Virginia (Davies) Gilb, 95, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Parkview Hospital Randallia. Born February 11, 1925, Virginia was the daughter of William G. and Lenora Davies. A 1943 graduate of Central High School, Virginia spoke often of enjoying her years there. She was active in sports and was part of the City Light basketball team, the General Electric championship bowling team and Uhlig’s softball team. She was active in the Central High School Alumni Association for many years and was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Virginia worked at Rea Wire during WWII and was a telephone operator at The Home Telephone Company, the U.S. Rubber Company and was the Duemling Clinic chief operator in the 1970’s. In years past, she enjoyed oil painting, sketching, reading, listening to music and watching old movies. Virginia was often described as a very sweet lady and had a warm smile for everyone. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth B. Davies, husband of 57 years E.K. “Kenny” Gilb, and daughter-in-law Joy Gilb. Those surviving to cherish her memory are son James Gilb, daughter Karen Gilb, both of Fort Wayne, grandsons Sam (Gretchen), Jon and Stephen and great granddaughter Shannon and great grandsons Aidan and Dylan. The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at Saint Anne’s Randallia Place and Parkview Randallia Supportive Care Unit.
