Samuel Clayton Hensley, 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on July 5, 2023 at Stillwater Hospice. Sam was born in Fairmount, Indiana on December 23, 1949. He graduated from Snider High School and later in life furthered his education at Vincennes University. Sam began his career as a paramedic at Mercy Ambulance Service and went on to work in education-teaching medics and EMTs. He loved being a medic and toward the end of his career, he and his Doberman, 'Tucson', became involved in search and rescue. Sam loved all things 'Doberman' and also enjoyed photography.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Jessica Hensley; son, Gabriel Hensley; and his Doberman, Abigail. Also surviving Sam are eight grandchildren: Kyle, Max, Emily, Mars, Gracelyn, James, Ethan and Oliver; two nephews, Bob Greer and David Greer.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Buford Alvin and Juanita Hensley; three sisters: Daisy, Linda and Hassie; one son, Christopher Michael Hensley.
Sam was cremated and a celebration of life gathering will be held at a future date.
