Ruth Jean Reed, 98, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at StoryPoint Fort Wayne West. She was born January 1, 1925 in Arcola, Indiana, daughter to the late Samuel W. and Nellie I. (Wolfla) Scott. Ruth was an inspector at Square D Company in Huntington, retiring after 30 years. She was a faithful member of Nine Mile United Methodist Church and served on the Ladies' Aid, as well as having served as a volunteer at Community Harvest Food Bank for 20 years. Surviving are her grandsons, Todd Egts and Troy (Christina) Egts; and great grandchildren, Taylor, Dakota, Eastyn, and Logan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey E. Reed in 2005; daughter, Joyce Egts; sisters, Linda Scott, Mary Hardy, and Louise Bridges; brothers, Dale, Earl, Ernest, Robert, Carl, and Arthur; and son-in-law, David Egts. Funeral services will be Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation two hours prior, starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Nine Mile Maple Lawn Cemetery. Contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to Elios Hospice Care or Community Harvest Food Bank.
