Ronald “Ron” Doepke, 88, of Fort Wayne passed on Sunday, December 6, 2020. He was born on November 13, 1932 in Fort Wayne. Ron was a son of the late Gustave and Luella (Gerken) Doepke. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend. He graduated from Elmhurst High School and spent most of his working life in the Commercial Refrigeration business. It was through this trade that he made many friends and acquaintances. Ron is a lifetime member at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. He truly enjoyed playing golf with his friends and probably knew every blade of grass at Brookwood Golf Course at one point. Later he would play much of his golf at Donald Ross, he was one of those Brookwood regulars that would say, “What planes”? Ron always had some type of project in the works and he might be considered a jack of all trades. It seemed like he could do just about anything. If you see his garage you might wonder what was in there with so many gizmos and gadgets, but he always seemed to know right where everything was. He loved his IU basketball and sure had his thoughts about how the game should be played and he would tell you all about it. Ron also enjoyed socializing with his friends at the Eagles. When Thanksgiving rolled around his personal preference was always the drumstick, give him that and all the fix in’s and he was good. Even in his later years he was not able to slow down, until health challenges began to present themselves. Ron is survived by his children, Diane (Rich) Primeau and Kerry (Lorrie Cayot) Doepke; grandson, Christopher Doepke; and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Cambell, and Carson Doepke. Also preceding him in passing was his wife, Janet Doepke; son, Ronald James Doepke; and daughter, Rhonda Doepke. A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church 1819 Reservation Drive Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation one hour prior. Memorial contributions in Ron's memory may be made to American Heart Association.
