Robert W. Murphy

Robert W. Murphy, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Heritage Park. Born on November 23, 1927 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Frank and Dollie (Fisher) Murphy. Bob attended Valparaiso University, IU, and graduated with a Bachelor Degree from the University of St. Francis. He was employed as an Engineer with GE, Franklin Electric, and most recently with DANA, from which he retired. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church. Proud of his Irish Heritage, Bob also enjoyed history, hiking, reading, IU Basketball, and vacationing in Gatlinburg with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Madonna (Miller) Murphy of Fort Wayne; daughter, Pamela (Bruce) Bennett of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Murphy; sister, Gertrude Hambrock; and brother, Franklin Murphy Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 St. Joe Road., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home 6131 St. Joe Road., Fort Wayne. Burial at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the Masses.
