Richard “Dick” C. Michael, 81, stepped in to Heaven on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Born on February 28, 1937, Dick was the son of the late Gerald Michael and Violet Murray Michael. Dick loved basketball and was a member of the Central Catholic High School basketball team, earning a basketball scholarship to the University of Dayton, where he played for one year. He later attended Marian College in Indianapolis, where he met his wife, Mary Jo. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for 4 years. He worked as a Sales Account Manager for Durkee Foods for nearly 30 years, and then for Lance Foods before retiring. He loved playing golf, taking yearly trips to Colonial Williamsburg with Mary Jo, watching I.U. Basketball, reading, and teasing his grandchildren. Dick is survived by his five daughters: Sue (Gary) Jones, of Fort Wayne, Linda Michael, of Fort Wayne, Ellen (Lynn) Michael, of Fort Wayne, Laurie Michael, of Fort Wayne, Carol Michael of Needham, MA, along with 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Jo Keller Michael; and his sister, Joan Hodde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on August 18, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on August 17, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Burial will take place in Catholic Cemetery.
