Richard & Janet Peters

Richard and Janet Peters, age 75 and 71, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Richard was born on January 10, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Janet was born on January 31, 1950 in Paulding, Ohio. Richard and Janet were happily married for 51 years and devoted to their children and grandchildren. Janet was a kind, devoted caregiver and lifetime blood donor. She was a dedicated member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she volunteered and supported multiple causes. She retired from Hancock Fabrics. She was very crafty, and enjoyed making thousands of Christmas ornaments for family and friends since 1976. Janet was an active, founding member of the Bakers Dozen Home Economic Club for 43 years. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, butterflies and flower arranging. Richard was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He loved visiting current and historical military sites, as well as attending air shows. Richard retired from GTE/Verizon in 2010 after 41 years as a communication technician. He loved gatherings with his close knit family. He is fondly remembered for his light hearted nature and bantering with family members. He was a lifelong learner, computer programming enthusiast, loved to travel and enjoyed chess, cards, dominoes and other games. Surviving are their children, Karen Biller and Mark (Judy) Peters; grandchildren, Lindsay Peters, Luke Peters, Justin (Stephanie) James and Jordan James; great-grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Joanna and Elaina; siblings, James (Debi) Peters, William (Beverly) Peters, Carey (Melodye) Peters, Daniel (Diana) Peters, Carolyn McKissick, Marilyn (Thomas) Gabet, Margaret Stier, Jerry (Jennifer) Coughlin, Stephen (Ron) Coughlin, Stanley (Patricia) Coughlin, Michael Coughlin, and Susan (Rodney) Kreager. They were preceded in death by their parents, Milford and Helen Peters and Joseph and Harriet Coughlin. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815 with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, October 8, 2021 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46815. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross and American Arthritis Foundation.
