November 21, 1934, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Eugene and Garnett (Mills) Haire.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He loved sharing his love for the outdoors
with his grandchildren. In his younger days, he raced go carts, coached little league baseball, and
fished in numerous bass tournaments. Richard was also talented in construction. He and his wife
together did a total remodel, inside and outside, of their lake house-just the two of them. He was
always there to lend a helping hand to neighbors in need. After graduating high school, he served
in the army from 1957-1959. After being discharged from the army he went to work with his
father at Colwell General. His father retired from Colwell after 45 years and Richard retired from
Colwell after 44 years.
He is survived by his son, Bruce (Leanne) Haire, of Wolcottville; grandchildren, Shawn (Kristin)
Haire, of Auburn, Indiana, Trish (Dave) Isaac, of Kendallville, Indiana, Cassondra (Matthew)
Ratliff, of Richmond, Virginia, Austin (Kimberly) Haire, of Woodburn, Indiana, and Chelsea

Kane Ratliff, Sophia, Ellie, Noland Haire, and Willow Haire; and his brother Gary (Linda) Haire, of Port Charlotte, Florida. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, JoAnn
(Nickolson) Haire, son, Richard E Haire Jr., and sister, Linda Allen.
