Raymond B. “Ray” Wanley, Jr., 89, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 22, 1934 in Connersville, Indiana, a son of the late Raymond B. and Dora (Wilson) Wanley, Sr. He graduated from Connersville High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1959. He worked for 36 years at Insurance Service Offices before retiring in 1996. He was a member at American Legion Post 47. During his retirement years, he worked at Riverbend Golf Course. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, hunting, fishing, and feeding his birds. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, telling jokes, and being with his friends. Surviving family include his children, Todd Wanley and Leann Frericks; grandchildren, Rachel (Jerred) Rich, Christopher and Drew Wanley, and Elizabeth and Emma Frericks; great grandchildren, Savannah, Daxton, and Henry; and sister, Bonnie (Rad) Abernathy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Savannah (Gabbard) Wanley; and siblings, Mary “Bootsie” Jobe and George Wanley. Funeral service will be 12:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne with a gathering of family and friends two hours prior.
