R. Jack Porter, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, attended by his wife of 50 years, Sandy. Born Aug. 25, 1936, in Muncie, Ind., he was a son of the late Steven and Edith Porter. Jack graduated from Concordia High School and spent his career in sales, retiring from Bowman Distribution - Barnes Group after 37 years. He was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, member of Grand Lodges AF&AM - Summit City Lodge 170 and Maumee Lodge 725, member of The Valley of Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Director's Staff of Mizpah Shrine, lifetime member of American Legion Post 157 and V.F.W. Post 3846 . Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sandy; granddaughter, Kyliah Noe-Means; daughters, Cheryl (Bill Burton) Porter and Mona Porter; stepson, Mitchell Means; stepdaughter, Connie Snyder; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Sowers. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Porter; sister, Martha McFarland; and brother, Marvin Porter. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Highland Park, 2403 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior.
