Rev. Dr. Marvin Edward Grooms, 89, went to his heavenly home, comfortably at his home in Fort Wayne, IN, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, April 6, 2023.
He was born on May 18, 1933, in Dayton, Ohio to Harrison Earl and Hazel Edith (Wagaman) Grooms.
He served his savior through sharing the word of God for nearly 7 decades. He loved preaching and lifting people up through the word of Jesus Christ.
He earned several Master and Doctorate degrees during his career and served on numerous boards that served the community. Marvin enjoyed traveling, studying and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his children: Mark (Cindy) Grooms of Lakewood, CA; Renee (Tony) Hicks of Roanoke, IN; Kyle Grooms of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, Norman Grooms, grandchildren: Tony, Conner, Allison, Gabriella, Erin, Madie, Matt, Chris and a great-granddaughter, Olivia.
He is preceded by his wife of nearly 65 years, Mona Sue (Morgan) Grooms and sister, Mary.
Funeral service will be 2pm Friday April 28, 2023, at Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church 880 E 1100 N. Roanoke, IN with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 5-8 pm at Thursday April 27, 2023, at the church. Burial in Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Roanoke. IN. Arrangements by D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church or Stillwater Hospice.
