Leo W. "Wayne" Byrd

Leo "Wayne" Byrd, 67, of Ft Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. He was born in Centreville, MI and graduated from Elmhurst High School. He worked as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 305, retiring in 2000. He was an US Air Force Veteran. He was a member of St John's Lutheran Church, Cook Rd., Fraternal Order of Eagles #248, Mizpah Shrine Temple, and Masonic Temple, Wayne Lodge. He loved fishing, family and especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Katherine "Kit" Byrd, daughter, Anita J. (Jon) Lee, of Ft Wayne; son, Aron (Angelique) Byrd, of Fredricksburg, VA; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister, Jeanette (William) Lubitz, of Wisconsin and brother, Mike (Kim) Kelemen, of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Adkins, in 2008, sister, Kittie Udvardy, mother Jessie Collard and father, Ernest Byrd. Funeral Service is 10:30am Monday, January 10, 2011 at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton, Winchester Rd. Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. Visitation is 5-8pm Sunday at the funeral home.
