Kay I. Betz, 81, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Heritage Park. Born August 15, 1939, in New Haven, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Brittia (Spindler) Richhart. A graduate of Woodburn High School, she was a florist for over 40 years in New Haven and Woodburn. An avid reader, she also enjoyed collecting mice and clowns. She cared for animals and enjoyed feeding her birds. Kay was a wonderful cook and made the best chocolate chip cookies. She was a very generous lady and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Rick) Nicoletti of New Haven, Jodi Gonzalez of Townsend, TN, and Gail (Ed) Claymiller of Harlan; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard “Bud” Betz; siblings, Everett Richhart, Gerald Richhart, and Lois Richhart; son, Rick Richhart; and grandson, Michael Rice. Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Lifeway Wesleyan Church, 7722 Moeller Road, Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Pastor Rick Fletcher officiating.
