Kathryn Kay Lantz

Kathryn Kay (Reed) Lantz, age 92, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025. She was born in Hays, Kansas to Ike and Twila Reed on May 28, 1932. She was a graduate of Fort Hays State University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree In Physical Education and a minor in Music. Kathryn also had a Master's Degree from St. Francis University where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.

After college graduation, she moved to Fort Wayne to work as the Aquatics Director at the local YWCA. Except for 8 years, where she lived in Kendallville, IN, she lived her whole adult life in Fort Wayne.

In 1997, she retired as the Director of Volunteer Services at the Fort Wayne Developmental Center after 25 years of servicing a job she truly loved.

Swimming and exercise were her favorite activities. As a Red Cross certified swimming instructor, she taught at several pools, including the YWCA, YMCA, and Carroll High School.

Kathryn served on the local Girl Scout Board of Directors, Advisory Committee of the Foster Grandparents, and Anthis Health Career Center. She as well participated in numerous Fort4Fitness events.

Kay's greatest delight was raising her two sons, Kirby and Brent. They were a continuous delight with their many accomplishments.

She is survived by her son, Kirby (Edie) of Monaca, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Amy (Tyler) Puheric and grandson, Eli Lantz of Fort Wayne; great-granddaughter, Hayden Puheric of Girard, Pennsylvania; and nephews, Mike Reed and Randy Reed, both of Kansas.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Twila Reed; twin brother, Kenneth Reed; and her son, Brent Lantz.

Funeral Service for Kathryn is 1:30 PM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne with calling two hours prior.
