Katherine Armstrong Keays

Katherine (Kay) Armstrong Keays, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2020 surrounded by family at her home. Born October 17, 1937 in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Blanche (Symanski) Armstrong.

She graduated from Holy Family Academy High School in Bayonne, NJ, class of 1955. Kay was a devout Catholic who almost never missed mass. Her faith was a vital part of who she was.

Kay had various jobs through her life including secretarial work and customer service. Her favorite was Food Service Manager for the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps. It was during her time with Star of Indiana Kay was able to travel the country and forge life-long friendships.

She adored her family and friends, and loved being a grandma. Kay’s love language was cooking. Sunday dinner was the highlight of most weeks.

Kay is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Keays of Fort Wayne; son Robert (Susan) Keays of Fort Wayne; 2 grandsons Ryan and Liam Keays; brother Francis (Nancy) Armstrong of Leesburg, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Blanche Armstrong; brothers Andrew "Buddy" Armstrong, Edward Armstrong; James Armstrong.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a Catholic Mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
