John J. Christoff, 72, of Fort Wayne, lost his battle of three years and 9 months to pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital. He was born August 2, 1945 in Fort Wayne to the late John and Mary (Biegel) Christoff. He worked as a manager of fleet maintenance at Indiana Michigan Power Company, retiring in 2002 after 30+ years of service. He was an Army veteran and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, American Legion Post 82, and the Tristate Gas Engine and Tractor Association. One of his passions when he was younger, was Super Pro Drag Racing. As he grew older his interests developed into woodworking, camping and fishing, and antique tractor engines, to name just a few. His love of nature was evident and his master gardening skills were appreciated by many. He is survived by his partner, Amy Pippin of Fort Wayne; sons, John P. (Michelle) Christoff of Columbia City, Jeffrey R. (Joanna) Christoff of Franklin, IN, and Ben (Jennifer) Pippin of Fort Wayne; sister, Mary K. (Bill) Boussum of Fort Wayne; 13 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jody Hoskins. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12305 Arcola Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46818 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials may be made to pancreatic research or St Patrick Catholic Church, Arcola, Indiana.
