Nécrologie de Jane Avery
Jane Avery, 62, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Friday, July 17, 2015, after an unexpected 8-month struggle with brain cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Bill Hoover; daughters Elizabeth Mannir, Mo (Josh) Jeffrey, and Allison Avery; her “Moroccan son” Hicham Mannir; and dear friend Christopher Snider. She is also survived by her brother Bob Avery (Kendallville) and family; brother Tom Avery (Rockford) and family; and sister Mary Sue McFarland (Indianapolis), as well as countless other extended family members and many friends who were as close as family. Jane attended Parkway High School in Rockford Ohio, class of 1971, then Saint Francis College in Fort Wayne (receiving a BA in Social Work) and later returned to Taylor University in Fort Wayne for an MBA. She was the long-time Executive Director of Community Harvest Food Bank (CHFB) of Northeast Indiana. Other work included Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne (where she managed the ElderMed Program), Catholic Charities, and parish work at the former Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in downtown Fort Wayne, as well as her very first job, working in her father’s grocery store. Jane enjoyed Civil War history and Notre Dame football. She formed deep friendships with spiritual leaders, especially Fr. Carlos Rozas and Fr. Jim Koons, who surely welcomed her arrival in heaven. She was tirelessly devoted to faith, family, and friends, living a life of service and celebration. The light of her smile was so radiant. Now that light will be never-ending. Visitation at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Winchester Rd. Chapel Thursday 12-4 & 6-8 July 23, 2015. Funeral Mass at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Friday 10 A.M. July 24, 2015.
