Gregory Lee Roberts

Gregory Lee Roberts, age 69, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Fort Wayne. Born on August 21, 1952, he was the son of the late Yost Houlton Roberts and Norma Lou “Dottie” (Herman) Roberts, who survives. A life-long resident of Fort Wayne, Gregory graduated from Snider High School and went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Purdue University. He started working as a professional land surveyor in 1970 at Donovan Surveying, Inc., and eventually became the owner/operator in 1994. When not working, Gregory enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He had a passion for soccer, was a member of the Fort Wayne Sport Club, and started the boys’ soccer program at Snider High School, retiring from coaching after 36 years. He was an active member and past president of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and was a member of Fort Wayne’s Home Builder’s Association and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Gregory is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vicki (Harges) Roberts. Also surviving are his children, Tricia (Brandon) Screeton, Matthew (Jamie) Roberts, and Bradford (Samantha) Roberts; his grandchildren, Alexander Screeton, Riley Screeton, Brett Screeton, Jenna Lynn Roberts, Olivia Lou Roberts, Warner Roberts, Dylan Roberts, Landon Roberts, and Ethan Roberts; his mother, Norma Lou “Dottie” Roberts; brothers, Philip (Nancy) Roberts, Mike (Pam) Roberts, and Chris (Michelle) Roberts; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. A funeral service for Gregory will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1126 South Barr Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Heritage Hall Renovation fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
