George John Krom, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Born December 29, 1937 in Ellenville, NY, he was the only son of the late Percy and Florence (McCluer) Krom. George proudly served in the US Air Force for four years and in the US Air Guard for five years. He was an Outside Warranty Claim Rep with Navistar for 36 years, from which he retired in 2000. George was very proud of working with Navistar in Ecuador from 1972-1974. He was a founding member of the Hoosier Air Museum and also a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Air Force B52 Stratofortress Association. George was very loyal to his Air Force affiliations and also enjoyed classic cars and road rallies in his younger years. He is survived by his daughter, Lorraine (Rex) Wiley of Arcadia, Ind.; son, Phillip (Judith) Krom of Markle, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Andrew & Gail Wiley and Jason & Jarod Cocklin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma (Schreier) Krom. Funeral Service is on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11:00am at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the Hoosier Air Museum.
