Eric L. “Rick” Kurtz, 76, of Fort Wayne met his Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 27, 2022. He was born on July 20, 1946 in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Arthur G. and Eunice E. (Lahrman) Kurtz. He served for two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Hartman Plastering, International Harvester, Mutual Securities Life Insurance, and retired from P.H.D. as a machinist in 2011. He was a member at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time at Big Turkey Lake. He will be remembered for his meticulous care for his yard and shrubs. He was very mechanically inclined and liked to tinker. He also enjoyed classic cars, owning one himself. Surviving family include his wife of 52 years, Diane Kurtz; brother, Kevin (Angie) Kurtz of Utah; two aunts, Wilma Maggart and Roselyn Deckert; and numerous cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his brother, Arthur G. Kurtz III. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 West Jefferson Boulevard, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
