Doris Irene Miller (90), of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018. Doris was born November 5, 1927, to parents Alonzo & Dottie Hall. She was united in marriage to Charles Alexander Miller in 1947. He preceded her in death in February 2009. They were married 62 joyful years. Together they had three sons; Charles Allen (Jeraldine) Miller of Yoder, IN; Donald James (Terry) Miller of Hoffman Estates, IL; and Daniel Hall (Sherri) Miller of Bloomington, IN. They were blessed with five grandchildren; Rachel (Patrick) Branagan, Charles Richard (Sara) Miller, Sarah (Justin) Larkin, Hannah Miller & Kiley Miller and 4 great-grandchildren; Reese & Gavin Branagan and Evan & Ava Miller. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her dear sister, Dorothy Cook.
Doris was a clerk at Tokheim Credit Union for 13 years. She was a longtime member and past Regent of Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) and the Eastern Star, with over 50 years of service to both. In addition, she was one of the founders of Women’s Auxiliary for the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department, and serving as an emergency dispatcher for many years. Doris was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ossian, Indiana; and a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years at Calvary Third United Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church, 123 S. Jefferson Street, Ossian, Indiana, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m.
