Donald E. Shipe, 76, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday July 16, 2014. He is the son of the late Harry and Velma Shipe. Donald was a Lab Technician for Navistar retiring in 1987. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He loved his grandchildren, fixing lawn mowers and volunteering his time. He was a kind and generous man who loved people and knew no strangers.
Surviving are his wife Janice; children Brad (Karen) Shipe of Union, KY, Melanie (Mark) Schweyer of Fort Wayne, IN, Karin (Randy) Stiens of Lexington, KY; grandchildren Tyler, Corissa, Dustan and Dexter Shipe, Kyle, Brandon, Hannah, Miriam, Olivia, Sarah, and ElleAna Schweyer, Megan and Alexis Ramey; great grandchildren Brianna, Cameron, Alexis Jade, Zaiden; sisters and brothers Crystal Mahoney of Yorktown, Jenovie (Dick) Bailey of Florida, Merritt Shipe of Florida, Berdenia Utrup of Delphos, OH, Barbara Horstman of Bluffton, IN, Echo Kessler of Auburn, Gloria ( Keith) Amstutz of New Haven, Billy Shipe of Garrett. He is preceded in death by his son Kevin Shipe, sister Clytie Conner and brother Cleo Shipe.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday July 19 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church 3425 Crescent Ave. Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation 1 hour prior. Visitation will also be 2-4 and 6-8 Friday July18 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home 6131 St. Joe Rd. Fort Wayne, IN 46835. Preferred memorials are to the church or “ Worship for Shut- Ins “ Lutheran Ministries Media, Inc. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
