Donald R. Ferguson, 80 of Fort Wayne passed away following a long illness on Sunday, 11 November 2018 on Veterans Day at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born on January 10, 1938, in Fort Wayne, Don was the son of the late Robert & Leila (Gordon) Ferguson. Don graduated Central High School in 1956. Served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, KY, from 1961 to 1963. Earned a B.S. degree in Math and Physics from Indiana Institute of Technology and two degrees from Ivy Tech State College: Computer Information Systems & Computer Programming. Don was a life-long learner and regarded as a “professional student". Following his retirement from International Harvester/Navistar, Don was employed at the Veterans Administration, U. S. Postal Service and ITT Aerospace. Following his second retirement (ITT Aerospace), he worked as a Consultant for various companies in Illinois and Indiana. Don was an avid Duplicate Bridge Player having achieved the rank of Gold Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League. He was also an active member of the Fort Wayne Duplicate Bridge Club. Don was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God, Catholic Church. His other favorite pastimes included gardening and following the stock market. Don is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose (Simone); Daughter, Lisa Ferguson-Sells (Jeremy) and grandson, Jaxson Sells of Fishers, Indiana. Brothers, Sherrill, Ralph (Diane) and many nieces and nephews. Service of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, 1101 Lafayette Street, Fort Wayne, IN, 46802 on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:30 am with an hour of calling prior. Calling will be at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804, Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial at Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN, following the funeral service.
