Diana Sue Cates, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born April 12, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Eberle. She graduated Elmhurst High School in 1961. Diana was a longtime and faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. She worked at St. Matthew Church daycare for several years. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 82 and the Women’s Bowling Association.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Jeni) Kennedy of Delaware, OH, James Kennedy of Clayton, NC, James Cates Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Theresa (Don) Metzger of Indianapolis, IN, and Karen (Bill) Joy of Fort Wayne, IN. Diana was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert E. Huggins, Edward I. Kennedy, Ed Baumgartner, James Cates Sr.; her daughter, Sherren Sue Kennedy; and brothers, William and Henry Eberle.
A funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 4, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road Fort Wayne, with visitation form 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Private burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
